Tupumue means “Let’s Breathe” in Swahili and is a 3 year project led by Dr Kevin Mortimer from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine focusing on early onset of lung disease in the Nairobi slums of Mukuru and Bura Bura. It will seek to identify the cause of lung disease in young people and also to understand the lived of experience of those affected by it. There will be a series of co-creative workshops to express and capture these experiences and we will be designing and delivering storytelling workshops as part of this.
