Loughborough University Storytelling Academy at Research Relay
Loughborough University School of Design and Creative Arts (SDCA) 2025 Research Relay Event saw Doctoral Researchers from the Loughborough University Storytelling Academy present their research to colleagues across the School of Design and Creative Arts.
It was an enjoyable, supportive and collegiate event with Doctoral Researchers participating in rapid fire three-minute presentations which highlighted the breadth and depth of research across the School, followed by Q&A sessions.
Presenting on behalf of the Loughborough University Storytelling Academy were:
Thomai Papadopoulou: Systems Storytelling of Digital Decarbonisation.
Greta Chen: Mapping Memory and Future: Co-creating Locative Narratives for Everyday Heritage and Community Wellbeing.
Evan Searle: Are You Not Entertained? Analysing Theatricality as Non-Verbal Discourse in Radical Right-Wing Populist Conferences.
Fiona Hughes: The Power of The Musical: Exploration of How the Medium of Musical Theatre Might Influence Young People’s Sense of Self and the Lens Through Which They View the World – Focus on Empowerment, Wellbeing and Gender Representation.
The event included a welcome from Professor Claire Warden (Associate Dean for Research & Innovation, Professor of Performance and Physical Culture), and an introduction from Dr Deborah Harty (Senior Lecturer in Fine Art and Director of Doctoral Programmes). It was curated and run by Dr Carina Brand (Lecturer Fine Art and Deputy Director Doctoral Programmes SDCA) and Dr Katarina Dimitrijevic (Lecturer in Graphic Design and Deputy Director of Doctoral Programmes (SDCA). The event was concluded with an interesting and valuable panel discussion.
