Dr Carolyn Scott-Jeffs

Carolyn Scott-Jeffs is a part-time lecturer at Loughborough University. She is also a writer, theatre director and dramaturg, working in the industry.

Carolyn has been teaching at Loughborough since 2003 and joined the permanent staff as a lecturer in 2006. She gained her PhD at Loughborough and previously was a teaching fellow at Birmingham University, Writer in Residence at University of the West of England, and acting tutor at Birmingham School of Acting.

Her practice as research encompasses dramaturgy and writing for radio, TV and theatre, particularly comedy. Her other research includes journal articles on women radio pioneers. She welcomes doctoral research projects on radio drama practice and theory or creative writing for film, TV, radio, or the stage, including comedy and would also be delighted to supervise work on dramaturgy, along with contemporary radio, theatre and TV practice.

She teaches on the MA in Theatre and Storytelling and also mentors students in scriptwriting university-wide through LU Arts.

Her musical play Fanny a New Musichall won Best Production at Birmingham Fest 2016 and transferred to Vault Festival 2020.

Her musical (book and lyrics), Wolfie and the Showgirl, won Best New Work at Birmingham Fest 2017.

She is Artistic Advisor to Lichfield Garrick Theatre Board of Trustees.

She is a member of the Writers Guild.
