Loughborough, England, March 30-April 1, 2020, Joe Lambert and his colleagues from the StoryCenter are running two Digital Storytelling and Oral History workshops.

Joe Lambert and his colleagues began their work in Digital Storytelling in the 1990s developing the Digital Storytelling Workshop model that has traveled the world inspiring a generation of practitioners and scholars looking at participatory approaches to media and social change. Lambert will present background as well as recent efforts to bridge the Digital Storytelling and Oral History communities as fields of practice. He will lead the group through a process of interview, to written text, to recording and short editing process, as a large group process.

Unpacking the Process
Elements of the Digital Storytelling Workshop

In the StoryCenter model, the Digital Storytelling Workshop model includes six elements: a set of aesthetic and design principles (the Seven Steps), a set of ethical principles (the Storyteller Bill of Rights), a group script process (the StoryCircle), approaches to individual script support and editing, support in digital media editing (video/audio), and a celebratory screening/sharing of stories. Lambert and instructors will travel through each aspect of the model over a jam-packed day of sharing and creation.
